Dandora Landfill Gas Project

Dandora is essentially a low income community plagued by poverty, crime, disease, poor infrastructure, and foul air emanating from the nearby landfill site to name but a few of the problems faced by its inhabitants. As one of the ways towards meeting the Millennium Development Goals in Dandora, a local renewable energy generation project that uses landfill gas emanating from the nearby Dandora landfill (being one of the oldest, largest, and most active landfill sites in Kenya) would not only bring socio-economic benefits to the nearby communities but also contribute significantly in improving the ambient air quality and the reduction of green house gas emissions.
